ECA – Operative & New Entrant

OPerative & NEw Entrant

Health & Safety Awareness

Mechanical & Electrical Trades

The Operative and New Entrant Health and Safety Awareness course is being run in conjunction with the ECA.

The course is approved by the UKCG and is aimed at those who work in, or are about to work in the specialist engineering sector of the Construction Industry, as a member of the workforce. The course will help them understand the main hazards that they may face at work when on a construction site, what they need to do, and what to expect of others.

The course provides a sector-specific alternative to the CITB/Construction Skills 1-day Health and Safety Awareness course, by providing a detailed syllabus which is particularly relevant to Mechanical and Electrical contracting health and safety, plus relevant welfare and environmental issues that apply to this major industry sector. This course is accepted by the Joint Industry Board (JIB) as an exemption for completing the ECS Health & Safety Assessment, when applying for your ECS Card.

This course is designed specifically for the construction operative category (i.e. not supervisors, managers, or responsible personnel) and new M&E operatives requiring access to construction sites for work purposes.

It is also suitable for those requiring UKCG approved Operative & New Entrant awareness training.

At the end of the course delegates will:-

Understand the need to prevent accidents

Have an understanding of health and safety law

Identify how your role fits into the control and management of the site

Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements

Feel empowered to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident
